Association Teams Results

On Saturday the 12th of May, the Murray Bridge and Mount Barker Rifle Clubs contested the third and final stage of the District Association Teams at Monarto over 800m.
With the return of several shooters and support members who contested the National Ladies teams matches and Northern Queensland Queens in Mackay both teams were at full strength.
It certainly was a ladies day with the female shooters doing well in all teams.
The wind blew from the right and was fairly constant though at times the coaches had to consider the strength and direction of the flags.
This year the teams have been conducted on an average system
In A Grade, Murray Bridge was a clear winner with an average of 98.0 to Mount Barker’s 94.25.
Top scorer for Murray Bridge was Jasamine Traeger with a magnificent 100.10. Top scorer for Mount Barker was Alison Hansen with 98.5.
In B Grade, Murray Bridge had a very narrow win with an average of 94.75 to Mount Barker’s 94.4.
Top scorer for Murray Bridge was Janelle Traeger with a superb 99.7 and top for Mount Barker was John Allen with 97.4.
In C Grade, Mount Barker reversed the results and came out victors with an average of 84.33 to Murray Bridge’s 83.0.
Top scorers for their respective teams were Sylvia Thicthener for Mount Barker with 90.4 and Bob Love for Murray Bridge with 83.4.
In F Class, unfortunately Mount Barker did not field a team so Murray Bridge recorded an easy victory.
Top scorer was Terry Brown with an excellent 116.5.
As this was the last shoot of the season, the scores were all checked and the major trophies were presented.
In A Grade, Mount Barker took out the Melrose Shield with a yearly average of 96.44 to Murray Bridge’s average of 96.27.
In B Grade, Mount Barker also took home the Mayne Cup with an average of 93.33 to Murray Bridge’s average of 93.27.
Mount Barker made it three victories in a row with a win in C Grade with an average of 87.0 to Murray Bridge’s average of 84.0.
Murray Bridge managed a yearly victory in F Class with an average of 109.68 to Mount Barker’s average of 107.0.
The Committee is looking at changes to the teams event for next year to continue and maintain the competitive spirit between these two strong clubs.

B Grade – J.G. Traeger 50.3, 49.4, 99.7; T. Benger 45.3, 50.3, 95.6; J. Cain 45.2, 48.6, 93.8; J. Cadd 44.2, 48.2, 92.4.
C Grade – R. Love 40.1, 43.3, 83.4; J. Elson 37.1, 46.0, 83.1.
F Class – T. Brown 57.2, 59.3, 116.5; F. Marshall 56.3, 59.5, 115.8; P. Byass 57.0, 58.3, 115.3; C. Kuchel 56.1, 58.1, 114.2; J. Caspers 53.1, 58.2, 111.3; T. Grigg 54.1, 54.3, 108.4.
